New Options

For those who are interested, there are new products listed on the order here page. The problem is that I can't figure out how to set up a shopping cart and on paypal the only option is the vanilla so bear with me as I try to figure out what I am supposed to do!

Shelves built!

Well, Rebekah and I just built the shelves for the vanilla! Got all the brewing vanilla put on the shelf. The box of empty bottles on the shelf. Figured out that two batches are ready to bottle so we will be bottling and labeling tonight and getting more vanilla ready to sell!  Even have a nice spot on the shelf ready to put bottled stuff on!

Of course, as I tried to take the picture she had to "help" with that too so you can't see the shelves or vanilla much, only the helper!

There! This picture is MUCH better! These shelves were created out of a part of a crate that someone was going to throw away. The top and bottom were already formed and the same sizes, the four uprights were precut to the same length. The only thing I needed was a piece of board for the very top as it was open. Cory cut that for me, well, you can see it is a tiny bit short because he was using a scrap of wood he already had! Overall it worked out VERY well and I got part of the basement cleaned to keep it in! Now my vanilla and all of my home canning stuff are neat and tidy and organized in the basement, away from the walkout and windows! How nice to be able to have ROOM to organize!

Enjoy vanilla today!

New Batch Started

Just started brewing a new batch of vanilla. Experimenting a little with some of this. We shall see! Looking for maximum flavor in minimum time and definitely looking for differences. I have three different types of beans to experiment with! Might do some mixing!

Updated site

For those who care...which might be no one! :-) I THINK Michelle and I got the blog updated so you can link straight to PayPal to order. At this time we only have one thing available. As we get others we will have to figure out how to make a list and a shopping cart but for now if you just click Pay Now to pay with your PayPal account, it will bring up a page with the prices and shipping and such.

Thank you in advance for your business!

Good Sign---I ran out of bottled vanilla

I had to get out the bottles and get busy! The reasons...not boredom that is for sure! I had to do it because I was out of bottled vanilla! This is such a good problem to have! So out came the coffee filters and funnels and bottles and lids and ribbons and labels...Whew! What a project! My 13 year old helped me measure and fill 6 bottles. Of course, three of them are already spoken for so it won't be long until I am forced to start this project all over again! :-) What a feeling!

So, that being said...who wants to buy those last 3 bottles so I have to work some more? New vanilla beans came in the mail today so I will be starting more tomorrow! Maybe later today if I get really impatient! :-) And of course, I am close to having vanilla sugar ready to sell in small quantities! I would have more if I would quit using it in my morning chai but it just makes it O So Yummy!

Enjoy!

GIVE AWAY!

Just decided to give away ONE free bottle of vanilla when I get to 25 followers! :-) Have no clue how to go about giving stuff away fairly on the internet but others do it so I guess that means I can figure it out too! :-) The way I am going I will probably have like 5 years to figure it out anyway! :-)

Still try to figure things out

Ordered new vanilla beans today. Have the materials to make shelving in the basement to hold my bottles and brewing vanilla. Discovered I have a new hobby, vanilla sniffing! Yes, you heard me right! I am experimenting with different beans from different areas of the world to see which ones I think smell the best. I have learned that Madagascar beans are still my favorite. Tahitian beans produce a vanilla that smells very sweet and I am eagerly awaiting my beans from Indonesia to try them!

I love my blue bottles with the black caps. I love the red and white ribbon on them. My daughter, Rebekah, is trying to convince me to try different ribbon and my original thought was that I would put different ribbons on each bottle but I admit that I love the look and am reluctant to try other ribbons!

It amazes me how many things you can experiment with when it comes to vanilla! I am eagerly looking forward to sharing my experiences!

In the meantime, have a beautiful day and remember, until my sister figures out how to get the order page in working order, if you need to order vanilla, please email me at WindyHillVanilla@gmail.com
